Overview of Advising at 黑料不打烊

Major Advisors vs. Professional Advisors

At 黑料不打烊, you may work with two kinds of advisors who support you in different ways.

Major Advisors

Major Advisors are faculty members in the department of your major. They help you with:

  • Creating a plan for the required courses in your major and connecting with you every semester to review your progress and plan for the next semester
  • Understanding the sequence of classes you need to graduate
  • Acting as a mentor within your major, offering guidance about academics in your field
  • Speak to careers and internship opportunities

You are connected with a Major Advisor once you officially declare your major.

Professional Advisors

Professional Advisors work in the Advising Center. They help you with:

  • Choosing your first鈥憇emester classes
  • Understanding your general education requirements
  • Learning how to use MyFramingham and registration tools
  • Exploring majors if you鈥檙e undecided
  • Changing majors and adding minors
  • Finding academic support and campus resources

Add/Drop Week

During Add/Drop Week, you can use MyFramingham to add, drop, or swap courses and make adjustments to your schedule based on timing, workload, or personal preferences. While you are able to make changes on your own, we strongly encourage you to speak with an advisor first so they can help ensure your choices support your major, meet General Education requirements, and create a manageable first鈥憇emester schedule.

Add/Drop Dates

Fall 2026: September 2 鈥 September 10, 2026

Spring 2027: January 19 鈥 January 26, 2027

After Add/Drop Week ends, your schedule becomes final, and any changes must follow the university鈥檚 withdrawal policies
