Are you interested in studying abroad, but not sure where to start? Join the Office of International Student Services and Study Abroad for our Study Abroad Fair! We'll be in the McCarthy Center Forum from 11:30-2:30.

We'll be hosting our partner universities and providers from across the globe so you can speak to the representatives about studying abroad in the location of your choice. If you aren't sure where you want to go, you can ask them why their location is the best!

You can study abroad for a short term in the summer or winter, a full semester, or even a full year.

CELTSS Scholarly & Creative Showcase: You Can't Make These Things Up

Thursday, Sept. 25, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Join us for an engaging evening of readings and roundtable discussion with biographer Kelly Matthews, memoirist Patricia Horvath, and poet Rachel Trousdale—professors in the ��ϲ�� English Department—as they explore the role of imagination in telling true stories. They’ll delve into questions such as:

How can we extrapolate responsibly from missing information?

How far is it appropriate to bend the truth in the service of metaphor or storytelling?

What constitutes research when crafting a literary work, and how can that research aid us when memory is hazy?

Public Planetarium Program: Fly Me to the Moon

An elaborate, animated film offering big adventure and comedy, set against the real story of our first visit to another world. Follow three young flies as they inadvertently stowaway aboard Apollo 11 and join Neil, Buzz, and Michael on their mission to pull off the very first moon landing!

CIE welcomes students with open house

The Center for Inclusive Excellence (CIE) hosted an open house for various organizations across campus and MetroWest on September 10.

Student organizations and affinity groups were also in attendance including; Student Government Association, Muslim Student Association, SEALS Peer Health Educators, and WDJM-FM.

CIE Director Jerome Burke said the purpose of the event was to create a “one-stop shop” where students could learn about various resources on and off campus, including academic support, mental health support, and student organizations.

He said introducing students to various departments on campus at the start of the semester is important, so “before they think about having to actually be in a crisis … they know ‘OK, I’m having this experience. I know that there are resources on campus, but if it doesn’t exist on campus, there are organizations close to ��ϲ�� that I could also tap into.’”

Burke said he hopes to further expand the services offered by the CIE and students “find a lot of comfort knowing that they're showing up in a space where they won’t be judged.”

Senior Daleri Garcia, a SEALS peer health educator, said she enjoys visiting the CIE because “you know when you walk into space, there's someone willing to love you or just listen.”

She said the SEALS work with the CIE frequently throughout the academic year for different events that promote growing awareness about mental and physical health.

Senior Taimoor Khal, a member of the Muslim Student Association and a diversity peer influencer, said the CIE is an open space for everyone. He, along with the CIE’s team, works to create an accommodating environment for all students.

Also in attendance was Advocates Community Behavioral Health Center, a non-profit based in MetroWest with the mission of providing support for individuals struggling with mental health and substance abuse. Additionally, Advocates provides support to individuals with intellectual disabilities, according to Lauren Purdy, an Advocates Representative.
